Leah Zweck
Leah started her professional career as a classical orchestral violist, freelancing and performing throughout Australia with the Adelaide, Queensland and Sydney Symphony Orchestras along with the Australian Opera and Ballet Orchestra.
She spent some time studying in Vienna and Munich and performing with a range of ensembles including the Muenchner Symphoniker and the Wiener Concert-Verein.
Returning to Australia and basing herself in Sydney she became involved in a broad range of non classical projects which included playing and coordinating musicians for TV shows such as Australian Idol and The Voice.
This led to Leah reconnecting with the instrument she started her musical journey with, the violin, and developing a musical contracting agency for session musicians.
Through this agency she has been able to enjoy a colourful performance schedule, working with both local and international stars of the music world.
Leah has performed, recorded, toured with and assembled musicians for artists as diverse as Lana Del Rey, Josh Groban, Indina Menzel, Harry Connick Jnr, Eminem, Michael Bolton, Kanye’ West and Lea Salonga.
Leah maintains a love of classical music and continues to perform chamber music.
With her ensemble Elandra String Quartet she performed in Canada and the US and toured outback Australia performing in remote towns with Didgeridoo player William Barton.
She founded and directed Ensemble Urbane, a collective of chamber musicians performing in non-traditional concert spaces such as bars and pubs aiming to make classical music accessible and relatable to new audiences.
Leah also enjoys working in corporate events, performing as part of a number of different acts she’s produced and is grateful for the variety of rich experiences her musical path has gifted her.
